Places to Visit in Bongaon
As anyother famous places, Bongaon doesn't has a lot of famous places but it has some places that I would have to say you must visit once if you're in Bongaon. You would love to know those places. And as a Bongaonian I think I must let you know about those places. So let start!
1. The Petrapole Border: I don't know if you're familiar about this border but you should know that this is the Asia's Largest Landport. And this also connect India and Bangladesh. Benapole which is in the Bangladesh is the other end of this pass. So what you can see here? The government just launched a new parad program. So you can have that as bonus beside just watching the International Border. The program starts from 3:30PM everyday (but try to avoid Friday).
2. Bibhutibhusan Wildlife Sanctuary (Parmadan): Is another attraction here. The sanctuary is situated on the banks of river Ichhamati covering an area of 68km2 and it has more than 200 of deers. And it also has a children's par, tourists lodge of the forest department. It is just 25km from Bongaon. to reach there just catch a bus of Bongaon-Helencha-Duttafulia(BUS-92) route. The nearest bus stop is Naldugari. The entry fees could be about 60 rupees and above.
3. Bibhutibhusan Ghat: The Bibhutibhusan Ghat is another famous place in Bongaon, This ghat is situated on the banks of river Ichhamati. It has a nice bridge and a statue of the great writer Bibhutibhusan Bandopadhyay.
This place is also famous as a picnic spot. During the winter season, it remains crowded. You can also hangout with your friends, mates...it's perfect for hangout near Bongaon.
4. Vivekananda Sisu Udyan: This park was created few years ago and became another attraction in Bongaon. It is mainly a children's park but nicely inaugurated and you should visit once if your'e in Bongaon. It has few rides for children. You can sit by the Ichhamati river side to enjoy the evening. And a good option to hangout with friends.
BTW it remains open only from 5:00PM to 8:00PM.
5. Triangular Park area: Well, it's not a tourist spot but worth a visit. The new Town Hall Auditorium is really nice. This area is also known as the "Trikon Park". Perfect for a evening hangout with friends. This place is always feels like festiveness.
6. The Lokenath Temple: A great place to visit in Bongaon. This temple become so popular in few days. It is the biggest Loknath Temple in Bongaon. You can visit there in evening with your family. During the Loknath Janmasthmi this place remains overcrowded.The mandir authority also offer packed prasad but in that case you must pay some charge for the packaging etc.
