Pillar no. 39/11
Pillar no. 39/11
If I ask you ‘What is your Nationality?’ You may answer easily ‘I’m Indian’ or any other country in which one you live. But today I’m gonna meet you with someone who has a nationality called ‘Citizen of the Pillar no. 39/11’. Yeah that is unbelievable but true!
Rejaul Islam |
There lives
a family in Boyra area of Bagdah Block of North 24PGS in WestBengal. The
bedroom of this family is in Bangladesh and the kitchen is in India. Amazing! Isn’t
it? As far I know, the 68 years old Rejaul Islam and his family is the only
family that lives in this area. They have both Indian and Bangladeshi
Nationality.
Due to confusion, The family has two addresses, one in Bangladesh( Gadadharpur area in Jessore district) and one in India(Boyra area of Bagdah Block of North 24PGS in WestBengal).
He is known
as the ‘Citizen of the Pillar no. 39/11’ to the Border Security Forces of the
two Countries.
During the Partition of the Country in 1947 the Border went through his courtyard and that created all
this.
So he now
lives there within the security of both BSF and BGB. He cooks in Indian soil
and then eats in Bangladesh. It is his daily simple routine. And a rare scene
to us!
