The fly over on Jessore Road

The fly over on Jessore Road

So here's a new news. I think you've heard it before. Yes its about the Jessore Road, the NH 34. Previously it was said by the officials that the Jessore road will be broaden, but no assured date. So people were curious about the details, that how will it happen, how the shops alongside the road will be shifted to a different place, how many people will get affected what will be the benefits bla bla etc.

So I'm gonna try to cover all those questions here in this article.

The Fly-over bridge which was proposed to be made on the Jessore road will be started shortly. The bridge will be 1115 meters long and 10 meters wide. It will be made from the Yogendra Nath High School to Hiralal Murti. The state Government has announced that no one should be shifted forcefully. And if so then they would be provided resettlement.

But I've come to known from a local news source (Sthal Bandar) that over 500 businesses have to move from their place but the Municipality has no clue where to resettle them till date. But the affected are not showing any aggression toward the decision as they want the bridge to be made and they know that this is necessary for further progress of their own town. But to secure their business they had given a deputation to the SDO and he accepted that. But could not give any guarantee that their demand will be full filled. And if full filled; there is no count how many of them will get the resettlement.

There are lots of benefits alongside all these affects. And thats why the decision was taken. Bongaon is a border city. Petrapole is a very active border and plays a major role in the import export business of the two countries, India and Bangladesh. This makes the roads very congested due to the transporting trucks and other heavy vehicles. And causes the roads to be accident prone. Every year numerous lives are gone on the Jessore road. Not only Accidents but the traffic jam too. Locals people face this problems in their daily lives. So if the bridge once made these problems will be lessen. So we can hope for the best.

Saat Bhai Kalitola

Saat Bhai Kalitola (সাত ভাই কালীতলা)

The original temple on the other side of the river

Hey everyone, today I'll be writing about one of the famous places in Bongaon, "The Saat Bhai Kalitola Temple (সাত ভাই কালীতলা)". This temple has a huge history behind it. some are true some are baseless rumors. So today I'll write every story I know till now.

"The Saat Bhai Kalitola (সাত ভাই কালীতলা) or Saat Bheye Kalitola (সাত ভেয়ে কালীতলা) or Dakatey Kali (ডাকাতে কালী) or simply Kalitola (কালীতলা)  are the same places."

History
During the British Rule in India Bongaon was merely a wild area. The forest alongside the famous Ichhamati River was so deep and spread within a large area. Many Tantriks was fond of this place. They loved the loneliness of this place as so ideal for worshiping the Hindu Goddess Kali. They built several Ashrams and Temples. The Tantriks were so active in sacrificing animals to hail the Goddess. But not only animals; sometimes they also sacrificed humans as well. They ran their expenses by robbing nearby places. So this place was known to normal people as a dangerous place.
Though some say that the Tantriks were not so bad actually. They used to rob only the bad people and gave away the money to the poor living people.
The Tanriks were seven brothers; so that's where the name of the temple came from.

During The Poush Mela

Rumors
There are a lots of Rumors about this place. Long after the Tanriks are gone, the temple become famous as people recognize the Goddess of this temple is so active. So they starts worshiping there. One famous rumor is that during the British rule the railway wanted to built a bridge over the Ichhamati river to the Jessore(now in Bangladesh). So an European Christian officer ordered to cut down the Banyan tree where the Kali Idol was situated. But when the men hit the tree with an axe, it started bleeding like a human being and the British railway officer later died due to vomiting blood. After that the railway department made the bridge in a different place and started worshiping the temple every year during the December(-january).

The bridge over the Ichhamati River

In These Days
Nowadays this place is famous as a place of worship. The new temple is situated centering the banyan tree. and the other temple is situated on the other side of the river.  People go there every day specially Tuesdays and Saturdays to worship Goddess Kali.
Every year during the December there happen an annual fair known as the Poush Mela. The mela happen throughout the whole month. During this season the crowd increase so highly. Some people also select this place as a picnic spot due to the scenic beauty of the Ichhamati River and the bridge nearby.

Check out my video of this temple during the fair (Poush Mela)

Do you know it's now more easy to get a Driving License in Bongaon. Few years ago there was no RTO in Bongaon area. So if you would need a Driving License or register your Vehicle, you'd have to go to Barasat RTO. That was very struggling for people in and around Bongaon. But now you don't have to worry, cause new RTO is now opened in Bongaon. Just in the SDO building in Bongaon Court area. I'll try to briefly describe the processe that how one can get a Driving License in Bongaon. Step by step...

Pillar no. 39/11

Pillar no. 39/11

If I ask you ‘What is your Nationality?’ You may answer easily ‘I’m Indian’ or any other country in which one you live. But today I’m gonna meet you with someone who has a nationality called ‘Citizen of the Pillar no. 39/11’. Yeah that is unbelievable but true!

Rejaul Islam

There lives  a family in Boyra area of  Bagdah Block of North 24PGS in WestBengal. The bedroom of this family is in Bangladesh and the kitchen is in India. Amazing! Isn’t it? As far I know, the 68 years old Rejaul Islam and his family is the only family that lives in this area. They have both Indian and Bangladeshi Nationality.

Due to confusion, The family has two addresses, one in Bangladesh( Gadadharpur area in Jessore district) and one in India(Boyra area of  Bagdah Block of North 24PGS in WestBengal).
He is known as the ‘Citizen of the Pillar no. 39/11’ to the Border Security Forces of the two Countries.

During the Partition of the Country in 1947 the Border went through his courtyard and that created all this.

So he now lives there within the security of both BSF and BGB. He cooks in Indian soil and then eats in Bangladesh. It is his daily simple routine. And a rare scene to us!
